The Inn at Furnace Creek

We’d heard a lot about how incredible the Inn was, and we’re not disappointed.

We were originally booked at The Ranch at Furnace Creek which is great for kids – there’s a pool and a playground, but, the hotel rooms are simple, almost boring. We immediately realized that while it was sufficient, it was nothing to write home about.

We asked for a transfer to the Inn and they managed to find a place for us. We heard that Furnace Creek Inn is one of those rare resorts – not only a hotel in the desert but somewhere where there’s nothing more you could wish for then to simply be. 

The pool is spring-fed, there are multiple patios for cocktails and sunsets, and the rooms look out over the garden or the oasis. Nature dominates but comfort reigns. Most importantly, I finally got my good coffee.

It feels like an old American Hollywood hangout. They’re closed in the summer because it’s too hot. Super hot. On the terrace you look out over the palms into the desert and it’s a bit surreal, it almost feels like being in Africa or in the rainforest. It’s the perfect atmosphere for a bit of travel introspection.
